Poetic Caprice is dedicated to 'Francois Rabbath and all open-minded bassists' and is a tour-de-force for the solo bassist. Teppo Hauta-aho is a past paster at writing successful and idiomatic works for the double bass and this piece has been performed a number of times by contemporary soloist, Dan Styffe.

This is a bowing and string-crossing study, offering musical and technical challenges for any adventurous bassist looking for something a littel different. There are two versions of bars 149-160 and pages 6 and 7 include both - the player can choose.

'Poetic Caprice' has been recorded on Secret Memories (Simax PSC1324) by Dan Styffe (double bass).
