The Transcriptions Series series
Recital Music publish a wealth of original works for double bass alongside a popular, accessible and growing range of transcriptions for bassists of all ages and abilities. Most transcriptions published by Recital Music are by David Heyes, who has a successful and proven track record when arranging for double bass.
Arranged for double bass quartet by David Heyes, this poignant and evocative Elegy was composed in 1909, between the two symphonies and at the height of Elgar's compositional powers.
Transposed a semitone lower than the original - now in D major - this is a slow and atmospheric work which transcribes well for double bass quartet. There are some challenges, using quite a wide range of the double bass, and would be ideal for the adventurous quartet.
Musical and technical challenges in equal measure.
