Robert Trory dies after illness with cancer

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Trory on Friday 9 August. Robert is the author of the resourceful series of tutors called respectively 'Violin Playing', and 'Viola Playing', published by Waveney Music Publishing Ltd. These books in 5 volumes, have been distributed by Spartan Press since their publication (starting in 2009), and have been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to thousands of string players worldwide.

Robert Trory was a revered teacher, a distinguished player (both violin and viola), and in recent years a highly successful conductor, working with the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the orchestra of The Royal Opera House amongst others. He was the inspiration behind the Sydenham International Music Festival for more than ten years.

Robert died peacefully at home after bravely fighting a brain tumour since early last year.
