New Sales Co-ordinator Post:- applications welcomed

Spartan Press Music Publishers Limited
are pleased to announce the creation of a new post from Spring 2011 at Strathmashie House, Laggan Bridge, Scottish Highlands.

This is not just a job like any other: it is also something of a way of life!

Spartan Press (established: 1989) have grown significantly since relocating to the Highlands in 1999, thanks partly to various acquisitions including Fuller Music in 2008 and Phylloscopus Publications in 2010. A new member of the Spartan team is required as part of an ongoing reorganisation following the retirement of Sandra Grant, Spartan's part-time trade co-ordinator for over 10 years!

The new job is a full time post and can include accommodation in the Keeper's Cottage at Strathmashie House if required.

Spartan Press run a number of thriving businesses from their converted Victorian hunting lodge, situated on the border of the new Cairngorms National Park. We typeset, print and publish educational, classical, printed music, and distribute these and similar titles from a growing group of like minded small music publishers to the music trade world-wide. Spartan also provide website services to the printed music industry (see 'HighlandHost.net') managed by Chris McKay, and run a retail mail-order business called Fuller Music (managed by Annette Reavley) which shares facilities with Spartan Press. Strathmashie House now boasts a new, custom built sales 'wing' which provides a comfortable, efficient and very beautiful environment in which to work. The Keeper's Cottage (previously a holiday cottage) is just across a 17th Century cobbled courtyard and is part of the old shooting estate at Strathmashie House.

The new sales co-ordinator role is a varied one, working as part of a small team in charge of the following main areas:

  • Front-line trade telephone answering
  • Trade sales fulfilment (invoicing and assembly)
  • Distribution and dispatch (post-room team work)
  • Credit control
  • Stock control
  • Warehousing
  • Liaising with Spartan composers and arrangers
  • Liaising with Spartan publisher agencies
  • Liaising with directors Mark and Pat Goddard

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm
Generous holiday allowance: five weeks (25 working days) annually + bank holidays.
The salary starts at £17,000 per annum.
Full training will be provided.

A long term let on the Keeper's Cottage is negotiable separately with Mark and Pat Goddard through Strathmashie Holiday Cottages. See www.strathmashie.co.uk for details.

Applications to be received by Sunday, February 6th, 2011.

Please apply by email with a covering letter and CV.
