I am already a collector of Hilary Taggart's books for solo flute, which are always pleasing to play and great recommendations for my adult and school age pupils; Chill and Chirp is no exception... The subtitle of the book suggests that each piece is written to develop tone and technique for players approximately grades 4 to 6; there is plenty for more advanced players to get from this book...the title works of Chill and Chirp are also enjoyable and descriptive, with the composer's experience and knowledge of the flute shining through to achieve seemingly more - for the listener - than the actual difficulty level found by the performer.

...Pieces have fun titles and are written by someone who knows the flute and its problems well...not boring!
